Yungli Traffic Equipment Co. is a highly experienced makerof a wide range of auto lamps including head lamps,auxiliary lamps (spot, driving, and off-road drivinglights) for both the aftermarket and original equipmentmarket. It also turns out lamps for other types of vehiclessuch as motorcycles, agricultural machines, and boats, andmakes harnesses as well.Yungli markets its products all over the world under the"Satuga" brand.The company's president, Chen Yu-jen, says that intensiveinvestment in mold and die development has given Yungli acomprehensive range of products that includes 360 models offog lamps. This, the president claims, makes his companythe most comprehensive supplier of fog lamps in the world.Yungli's Taiwan plant has about 50 workers who turn outabout 200,000 lamps per month. This is not enough to meetthe demand, so plans are afoot to set up a large new plantin Dongguan, Guangdong Province, this year.The company exports about 90% of its production and sellsmost of the rest to other local lamp products in theinterest of container consolidation. A small quantity ofproducts is sold to local automakers on anoriginal-equipment (OE) basis.Chen notes that auto-lamp production requires largeinvestments in mold and die development, the procurement ofoptical-design technology (especially for reflectors) andoverseas quality and safety certification. He says that hislamps meet the strictest E-mark and society of automotiveengineers (SAE) safety standards.To make sure that its lamps are stylish in appearance aswell as safe in function, Chen says, R & D departmentregularly adds to the largest database for fashioninformation in the market and tries to improve on existingmodels. ...
